Wii Won a Technology Grant!

The Youth Services Dept. has received a Library Services & Technology Act grant* to help develop technology that will draw teens to our library. These funds are providing a Nintendo Wii for use in monthly gaming tournaments, as well as gaming books, video games and more. Wii games are now available for patrons to check out for one week! There will be a $1 per day overdue fee. For further info, please contact the Youth Services Dept. at 708/371-5666.

*"Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a Division of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), under the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA)."

Sites for Book Lovers

One of my favorite book-related sites is Librarything.com, where I keep a bookshelf/list of all I've read over the past year.

Shelfari looks like a fun site, also. What sites do you recommend for book lovers?

School Psychologist Turns to Murder!

Attention, Mystery Lovers! Don't miss your chance to meet author Denise Swanson. Her Scumble River mystery series features school psychologist Skye Denison, not your perfect Barbie Doll sleuth. These fun books are set in a fictional Midwestern town, loosely based on Swanson's own hometown of Coal City, IL. A book signing will follow her entertaining program. Mark it on your calendar for March 12 at 7 PM! For registration and further information, contact the Adult Services Dept. at 708/371-5666.
